2033 spam comments

spam.jpgMy make money blog has only been up for about 3 and a half months and already received over 2000 spam comments. I guess it’s proof that my site is growing. This means that i’ve averaging about 20 spam comments a day. If i didn’t have akismet installed on my wordpress, i would have to manually edit and remove these porn and pharma spam comments. If you haven’t already installed akismet, do so now. The only problem i have with this spam filter is that i do have to look through and pick out some comments that aren’t spam. I guess some email urls have been flagged as spam. Certain hosting servers host porn and spam sites along with regular blogs. I think that’s why the ip gets blocked. Even tho i have put in some work to recover non spam comments, i love my akismet. If it wasn’t for you akismet, i wouldn’t have time to post on my make money blog.

I’ve only had a couple hundred in the last 90 days, but Akismet rocks. I did close my comments on posts 5 days and older. Saves me from going in to delete spam.

I’ve had 550 spam trackbacks and 13 actual spam comments. The trackbacks piss me off more than the spam. The spam ones mean I’m coming up in the blogging world. The trackbacks just mean people are too freaking lazy to write their own content and steal mine, based on tags, and tags alone, and have nothing to do with what they’re claiming they’re blogging about.

    killian-haha. happy about spam. that’s a first.

chica- go ahead. brag about blogspot. i guess that’s one of the perks for having a google owned blog.

witchypoo- that’s actually a good idea. but i don’t want to close the comments. if my blog grows to medium level, i might have to. thanks for the info witchypoo

    wendy- akismet is awesome!

sarah- i hate content feed stealers. but u know what. it’ll up your technorati. so at least you get something out of it.

I haven’t used Akismet, because at this point, I want to avoid false positives at all costs. On my site all the spam comments seem to concentrate on two posts, so its quite easy to ignore them until there is 50-100 spam comments in queue and then mark them off as spam.

akismet has blocked 1033 spam messages on my blog… It could be a larger number if i haven’t installed the Peter’s Math Anti-Spam Image plugin…

juha- are those two posts the ones that got stumbled and digged? that’s an interesting theory. i still say akismet can help.

chica- icic. why aren’t you on your own domain? chica, i’ll buy you a domain if you want and give you free hosting if you want. of course i’ll ask for something in return. like guest post on one of my other blogs etc.

hugosantos- i must look into the math anti spam plugin. thanks for the info. i guess theres braggin right even with the spam count. :)
