The astronomic rise of social networking sites like facebook and myspace prove one thing. There are a lot of lonely people online. These social networking sites make you feel less lonely. You connect with random friends and friend of friends. You leave little messages and send them shout outs. You talk about each other and look at each other’s photos.
Social networking is not about social networking. It’s about keeping in touch the easy way. The email replaced snail mail and the text messaged replaced phone calls. Social networking sites might replace face to face networking. It makes perfect sense, you can keep in touch with people who should become long lost friends without the awkward silences.
