Making money online in 2010 and beyond

August 23rd, 2010 by the noob

This blog started a few years back with a simple premise. I wanted to make a few dollars here and there by blogging. I was able to achieve this goal right away. I started with “get paid to blog” sites as my first monetization method. I later realized that i needed to switch my strategy. If you have followed this blog in the past, you already know the changes that i made. Bloggernoob.com is going to start talking about the big picture in this “make money online” game. Im not going to talk about the same old things as my competitors. The way i see it. Trying to make full time income with just a blog is ridiculous for most people. Very few people can bring in $100/day or more with just a blog. So, if you are serious about making money online, you will need to be creative. You will need to think about future opportunities. The tech world and the web landscape changes at an exponential rate. You will need to be flexible and seek out new ways to make money online.

This post is a mission statement for myself and people who think like me. The web isn’t accessed by a desktop computer anymore. It’s mobile and portable. You will need to think about these things as you start a new website or web venture. Also, you need to really dive right into the social web. Sites like facebook and twitter are taking over the web. People are not relying solely on google or other search engines. I even have a few friends who don’t use email anymore. They now message me via twitter or facebook. My point is that the World Wide Web that you know now isn’t going to be the same tomorrow. Literally. So, what can a noob or newbie do to try to make a living online?

First off, you need to stay current. You need to read a lot of the tech blogs and news sites to see what all of the big fish are doing. Read up on Google acquisitions and look into bidding wars between big companies. Do this to search for opportunities for you. You probably won’t start a company that will get bought out by a giant, but you can still earn a nice living. There is a lot of money that will trickle down to bloggers and lowly webmasters. You just need to know where to look. News of Google buying or investing in a company will help you understand the direction of the web. You will see what types of companies are making the big bucks. This will help you get a piece of the pie. Even if your slice is small compared to Google. The crumbs that fall off of Google or Disney’s dinner table can feed a big family.

Educate yourself. Learn a bit of code. Learn some web design. Blogging can be done by any idiot. Im pretty sure that even a monkey can blog. Look to branch out and improve your game. Look. Kobe Bryant isn’t Kobe Bryant because he stayed the same. He worked on his game and improved every year to become the best. If you are really serious about making money online, you will train yourself to have the compete package. There are so many things to learn. Get started. Download the Apple SDK and Andriod SDK and try to make some mobile apps. Go to facebook and make some facebook apps. Even if you don’t see yourself as a programmer, this will help you add income. And who knows, it might even present you will new ideas for a new startup.

Lastly, don’t limit yourself from making money solely online. There are still a lot of folks out there who don’t know how to use the web. They don’t know what an ipad is. They don’t know how to shop for deals online. They just don’t know about online marketing. Just look at your parents. If you can become a liaison to these types of people and or small businesses, you can tap into a nice income source. Be really active and creative. For example, help out a restaurant in your area with their online marketing efforts. Hook a small business up with some groupon and social networking promotions. You can even start a business of your own that hooks small businesses up with the web.

I know that the info in this post is generalized. I will try to make some detailed posts that talk about the specifics later. If you would like more info, leave me a comment with a specific question. Also feel free to add your 2 cents in the comments below. Noob out!

Sites to support your main money blog

March 29th, 2010 by the noob

Im still in the process of clearing out a lot of junk on this blog. I don’t update Bloggernoob with a lot of new posts, but i still very much work on this site. This blog now has a Google Pagerank of 4. Cleaning up the junk is helping the Noob’s SEO efforts. I think that i was taxed by the big G earlier because of some paid plugs and etc. I wanted to think long term with this blog. The income level on this blog is still very steady. It isn’t a lot but im sure that it’s more then most people ever see with their blogs.

Anyway, Blogger Noob will be more about Search engines. I think that this strategy will give me more passive income. The whole point of growing a site deals with Search Engine rankings. If you want to make money online with your website, you gotta have visitors that find you on Google.

Here is a strategy that i’ve been hammering on about on this blog for ages. Build up your blog or website with your own collection of sites. This “Blog Farming” method works wonders on all sorts of sites. I am able to easily rank well in Google with a new sites because i link to that new site from my older established sites.

You can read my blog farming post to better understand this method. I’ll also do a new update on that post to discuss it in detail.

With this post, i wanted to talk about support your blog or website via article publishing. There are a lot of sites where you can post links to your site. All you need to do is provide some content. This requires a lot of time, but a well written article on one of these sites will yield a lot of Google juice. Meaning, your sites will greatly benefit in the long term. You will have permanent links to your site from Authority sites.

Just write about your keyword specific niche on this sites. Make sure that it is well written and that it provides useful content for people who are interested in that topic. When those pages start showing up on google search results, your site will benefit.

Here is a list to sites where you can submit articles (links).

Squidoo.com
Hubpages.com
EzineArticles.com
Zimbio.com
Gather.com
9rules.com
eHow.com
43things.com
answerbag.com
Yahoo Answers
Wikihow

(The answers or articles that you submit to these sites should have a relevant link to your site.)

This idea doesn’t just stop at answer or article submission sites. You can work your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) efforts on social networking and video sites. Google doesn’t just dig into text and link based websites anymore. They go through a lot of video and social networking sites as well. I think that the whole Facebook privacy change deals with Facebook wanting to control the wealth of content the users put up. So put up niche specific tweets, videos, and friend updates on sites.

Twitter
Youtube
Facebook

Be creative and don’t be lazy. Research similar sites to the ones i’ve mentioned above and rinse and repeat. Noob out!

What up bloggernoob?

October 29th, 2009 by the noob

Just wanted to give you an update on this little make money online blog. I recently came back from a trip to South Korea and was inspired by the trip. I have a lot of money making ideas. Some are offline based and others work well as web sites. Anyway, hopefully i can make some time to share with you guys my ideas. A reader and friend of bloggernoob wrote me an email asking me what was going on with this blog. I decided to share with you guys the email and reply.

“Hey noob, it’s been a while since I’ve talked to you. I think from the time we last talked I’ve come a far way in my knowledge of making money with blogs, and yet I’m confused. Why is bloggernoob not updated daily anymore? Did it just become unprofitable as compared to another site or venture of yours or does it continue to hold it’s previous value despite your not updating it anymore?

The reason I ask is that I have my blogs updated daily and it gets a bit tedious, but I don’t want to drop in the rankings of my biggest and most competitive keywords.

As a simple question, what would bloggernoob be valued at if you were to sell it now? Just curious how much a blog like that is worth after time.”
