$100,000 for a dot whatever extension?
I try to gobble up all relevant “make money online” news. Wendy from wendy’s reel wrote a response post about ICANN’s decision to allow any type of domain extension. So, in a couple of year, companies and individuals can register a whatever.whatever domain. This is big news for domainers and webmasters. The newer extensions (.info,.biz) haven’t caught up to dot coms, and they never will. But, having your own extension could mean gold to people who invest in some key extensions. There have been talks that a .sex extension or a .money could start bidding wars. They are thinking about pricing the extensions at around $100,000 a pop. Do i think that this will change the value of .coms? Not really! Did .info or .biz change the game much? Nope! I think web surfers are used to punching in .com to get to a site. Heck, iphones and blackberries already have a .com button on their keypad. Dot coms and country extensions will continue being the norm, but these extensions are making it pretty exciting.
