Hitting up Advertisers

longoria.jpgI’ve been trying to increase my private ad sales. Bloggernoob dot com has grown to a level where it can sell private ads. All I need to do is approaches the right advertisers and throw them a great pitch.

I recently signed up two private advertisers. It didn’t take a lot of effort. Just a few emails and price negotiations. When you appoach someone about your private ad space, you should have all of your site information handy. In your pitch email, you should include all of your statistical data. You should talk about your reach amongst your blogging peers.

I think a lot of bloggers think that private ad space should be sold to other bloggers. I think this is a common newbie mistake. Ad space on blogs should be sold to business types. When i first started thinking about private ad sales, i looked at the big money bloggers. I looked at the advertisers on these “make money online” blogs. I started emailing these advertisers and to my surprise, some of them agreed to advertise on my blog.

You can try to sell your private ads on web forums. The only problem is that your thread will get lost in the shuffle. Also, your ad request is not very direct. You should take on a more direct approach. Hit up advertisers who already advertise on other blogs. Whenever you visit a blog, check out the websites that advertise on that blog. Find the contact info of these advertisers, and shoot them an emails. This saves you time and increases your success rate. These guys are already advertising on other blogs. These guys have an ad budget. They want to advertise on your blog. You just need to convince them of that fact.

I agree a hundred % but shouldn’t one also have a good amount of page views, unique hits and a substantial amount of readers before they even attempt to try something like that??

In case you didn’t notice I have aquired my own Domain and hosting. Wohoo.

Now to figure how to use the rest of it. Some tips would great. Like how on earth do I do this??
You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.

Tried several times following the Codex and had to get it fixed. Grrr

Wendy- congrats on your new domain and hosting! It might look hard at first, but once you play around with it, you’ll find that’s it’s pretty easy. If you have any questions, feel free to email, i’ll try to help u out.

Yeah, if you want to sell private ads, you’ll need traffic. I would say that you would need at least a couple hundred hits a day. Any high rankings should help. Google PR, low alexa, a lot of backlinks, high serps. etc

My site is still quite new although I’m busting a gut promoting it and learning everything I can. I notice my Alexa is now 828000 and I’m getting anywhere from 80-140 unique visitors per day, but I don’t have any pagerank. Is there any advice you can give on attracting private advertisers?

matt- since your site is new, all you can do is keep hitting up the forums and sending out emails to potential advertisers. your traffic stat is impressive for such a new site. When your alexa goes down, and later when u get PR, you’ll find that it gets a lot easier. hang in there buddy
