My Mommy is a Noob
I bought my mom a laptop computer two years ago. Back then, it was a top of the line system with all the fixings. Now, it is a dinosaur. It’s been sitting on her desk collecting dust, but i guess she is now starting to use it. I just spent an hour and a half on the phone with my mother. She called me cause she was having problems with computer. Apparently, someone (my dad) downloaded a porn virus. (i didn’t know she surfed for porn)
My mother is a good old christian lady. She was freaking out at all the freaky popups that sprang up every time she went online. I told her to pray and calm down. After about an hour and a half, i was able to rid her of all that porn virus. I walked her thru the uninstall and reboot. I was actually surprised that she was able to follow my instruction. (took a hour and a half tho)
I learned something today. I realized that porn is everywhere. It stalks you even if you have Jesus protecting you. I realized that there is a market for such guidance. I think a lot of seniors have difficulty with tech stuff. They have no one to guide them thru it. If you were to set up a “blog about blogging for seniors” it could become a hit. A make money online blog for seniors is actually a pretty good idea. Seniors have a lot of time on their hands. Blogging might be a fun activity for them. And if they get good at it, it could add some golf money to their pockets. If you market the site properly, it could probably take off. I’m thinking about setting one up. If you are interested, send me an email. I’ll help you out. Or, we can set up a senior blog together.

No offence - I love both what you are doing and the pretty pictures. But for some reason I find pictures like that staring me in the face when someone is talking about their mother rather disturbing.
Am I just being a daft prude?
As for the site idea you would need plenty of senior input to it, so you know what issues they have etc. Otherwise it would just become another guide for people who know little about computers with no specific elderly issue targetting.

nick jones- none taken. I appreciate your input. I love and respect my mother. The picture is there to grab your attention and it’s in reference to the porn. Yes, i agree that a blog like that would require senior input. If i was to start it, i would do it while i was helping my mother set up a blog. That way i would understand how she is thinking. What type of explainations help her better, etc.

That seems like it would have been an awkward conversation. ‘Yeah there is porn popping up all over my computer’. Oh well though/ hopefully everything is all right now.
