useful ebook cover tool for noobies
I have a lot of contacts in the “blogging for money” industry. I have found that a lot of them don’t just blog for money. The ones that make steady income do so because they are able to branch out into other web ventures. If you are a loyal reader of bloggernoob dot com, you may have noticed a trend in the last few months. My posting frequency has gone down. I now spend more time on other types of web sites. I look for new opportunities on a daily basis. I wanted to talk about setting up your own ebook to add some income to your online portfolio. Some of you may not believe me, but you can in fact make a lot of money releasing an ebook on the world wide web. You just have to make sure that you institute a nice ebook cover design on your publication. You also have to provide content that is niche specific and valuable. And like most business ventures, you need to apply the right type of marketing.
Web businesses are similar to hobbies. They do not require a lot of capital, but you need to spend a lot of time on them if you want to see it grow. Most importantly, if you want your project to succeed, you better be passionate about it. Most of my passionless projects are deep in the back burner. I honestly think that i will never get back to a lot of those web sites. I basically threw away the money for the domain and hosting. I can live with that, but it hurts to think about all of the time that threw away working on those dead end sites. Be sure that you work on things that you can follow through to the end.
Now back to the ebook idea. You really need to start with topics and niches are ultra specific. The best way to find them is via google. The next time you randomly surf for info online, think about ebooks. For example, i was doing some searches online because i hate flying. I found a few web sites that were really crappy. I was thinking about setting up a well written ebook on this topic. This type of websites can payoff slowly and continue to grow without much work. There are a lot of people who hate flying just as much as i do. It really has a lot of potential. If you actively think about possible topics, you will find dozens of them when you search on google.
When you have your topic ready, start writing notes down for the ebook. Ebooks do not have to be all that long. Don’t be intimated because you really don’t have to publish a work of art. Just think of it like a nice brochure. As long as the content is useful and easy to use, you are good to go.
Lastly, you should create a really catchy and polished ebook cover. Check out the web site over at myecovermaker dot com and make yourself a nice ecover. This web site is a great place to get started with your ecover design.
Even though we are living in new age, the old maxim of hard work paying off is still very true. Just like poker, you have to be in it to win it. Play a lot of good hands (publish a lot of good ebooks) and you are sure to win a big pot. Noob out!

That is a really great program for designing e-book covers. I’ve tried several over the years but this one is easy to use even for a complete beginner. Thank you for the post.

My advice is to first focus on generating traffic and making money from Adsense, before investing in the cost of publishing an eBook. Adwords is unlikely to deliver the margins you need, so there is a lot of SEO to think about before cover designs.

Hey Noob, Excellent post! I’ve always wanted to get an ebook together regarding “what to look out for when buying a blog”, but have just never seem to find the time to actually do it. Your post has me feeling a lot more inspired to get to it and just do it! I also like the idea and never really realized or put much thought into the fact of what the cover should look like. duh! That’s what sells a book or at least has a lot of input when one is looking at a book be it e-book or the real thing. Thanks a bunch for the push I needed to get going on this project. jj
